The Tall Ships Races 2017 finale in Szczecin has plenty to offer besides the world's largest and most beautiful sailing vessels, including sport, cultural and sailing attractions, animation activities for children and an opportunity to explore cuisines from around the world.

Accompanying events


The Crew Parade, a colourful procession of brass bands and crew members from the sailing ships and yachts participating in the Tall Ships Races 2017, will walk down the streets of the city on 6 August, carrying boards bearing their vessel names and flags of their countries of origin. Accompanied by musicians, dancers and art performers, the parade will make its way from the Chrobry Embankment to the Summer Theatre in Kasprowicz Park, giving the crews an opportunity to present themselves to residents and tourists, and contributing to the joyful sailing atmosphere throughout the city.


“Con te Partio” performed live among swaying masts and flapping sails will forever stay in the memory of those who visit the Chrobry Embankment during the Tall Ships Races Finale on Saturday to admire the unique voice of Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli. Given the venue and setting, this will be one of Europe's most spectacular music events in 2017.


On Sunday evening the stars of The Voice of Poland TV show will give a concert on the main stage at the foot of The Chrobry Embankment. This will be the first time this popular TV talent show comes out of the studio and moves outdoors: to Szczecin. The four jury members will sit in their famous red chairs and, together with residents and tourists, listen to the voices from the programme. The show will be broadcast on TVP2.

Radio Zet concert

On Monday evening on the main stage at the foot of The Chrobry Embankment will be Radio Zet concert. The star of the evening will be popular polish Singer - Kayah, and right before her on stage we will see and hear polish DJ and producer C-Bool.


Six sandstone sculptures up to 3.5 metres high will be erected on Łasztownia during the Tall Ships Races 2017 finale, with their authors starting work six weeks in advance as part of the 5th Sand Sculpture Festival. The festival will draw inspiration from seafaring traditions and the sailing atmosphere of the event. A sandbox will also be set up, so anyone can create their own sand sculpture. The festival is organised by Szczecin Art Agency and Szczecińskie Kopalnie Surowców Mineralnych S.A.


Animators from the Szczecin-based group Malinowe Marzenia will organise four days of fun in the Kids Zone. Some of the programme highlights include performances, dance workshops, sea-themed animation activities, presentations of art groups, contests, and interactive fun and games. Mickiewicz square will also host an interactive zone promoting the “Family-friendly Szczecin” programme, the “Mind Caught in the Act” exhibition held by Copernicus Science Centre, and an exhibition of unique tropical plant and insect species. A group of superheroes will draw gasps of awe from kids, and the first edition of a travel festival for the whole family will take place. And by visiting the Adventure Archipelago Islands, children will travel to a realm of adventures, fun and mischief.


If you love wind, water and cinema, you cannot miss the sailing cinema screen in Żeromski Park. The Tall Ships Races 2017 in Szczecin will see the first edition of this event, which is an attempt to start a new sailing film festival. The festival aims to present the best marine-themed cinema productions and documentaries. There will be more than 50 hours of material, including both the latest films and old-time classics to suit all tastes.


The European Fair at the Tall Ships Races 2017 is where you can find Italian prosciutto, Greek olives, Spanish paella, Belgian wafers, French pancakes, Dutch tulips, Irish caramel, and much more. Taste unique foods from across Europe and get inspiration from traditional European cuisines! And if we're talking about fairs, you should definitely check out the Sailing Fair – an event that has grown quite popular with Szczecin residents, and features marine souvenirs, tasty food and original items you're not likely to find in any shopping centre.


A food truck zone will be located on Łasztownia, near the footbridge to Grodzka Island, with some 40 food trucks offering a chance to take a journey around the world's cuisines. They will serve dishes inspired by the flavours and cultures of various regions, countries and continents, as well as traditional Polish food, which can turn out to be quite exotic for sailors and tourists from overseas. The Flavour Festival zone is also a relaxation spot where you can sit down, get something cool to drink and listen to good music.


A spherical tent zone will be arranged on Łasztownia, right next to the cranosaurs and surrounded by the most beautiful tall ships. Each of the six tents will house partners and friends of the tall ships rally in Szczecin, including TT-Line, OT Logistics, the Municipal Water and Sewerage Company, Szczecin Metropolitan Area Association, Szczecin and Świnoujście Seaports Authority, and the Ministry of Maritime and Inland Navigation. There will also be interesting presentations, art and culinary shows, and fun and games. Szczecin residents and tourists already had an opportunity to admire the spectacular spherical tents during the 2013 Tall Ships Races finale.


Two colourful amusement parks on the two banks of the Oder open on 4 August. They will be arranged by our partner companies from Czechia and Germany, and feature a Ferris wheel, a Vmaxx pendulum that swings at speeds up to 120 km/h, and Europe's largest swing ride, which spins at a height of 80 metres.


An event full of quality Brazilian music and exciting samba, this festival, held on Łasztownia, offers an opportunity to take part in percussion and dance workshops. The programme also features a carnival group parade and a club party.


The Mayor of Szczecin Cup Brass Band Festival features stage performances, a brass band drill show and band presentations during the crew parade. Bands from across Poland have applied to take part in the competition.


The regatta finale features attractions that are not addressed to sailing enthusiasts only… If you are into trains don’t miss the opportunity to take part in a unique draisine race, with families and friends competing on a 100-metre section of railway track. OT Logistics employees will explain how draisines work and how to operate them safely. The vehicles will be available to all event visitors from August 5 until August 7 from 10 am to 4 pm.


The sports zone, which offers plenty of attractions involving physical activity, will be located in two spots: in the City Summer Zone on Grodzka island, vis-a-vis the Chrobry Embankment, and in Żeromski Park. Exhausting boom fights, ergometer rowing, tug of war and martial arts presentations are just some of the sailing-themed entertainment options featured in the sports zone. Other attractions include a table tennis tournament, a strongman competition, self-defence workshops, family contests, kids zone, stilts race, bow shooting, surfboard simulator, dodgeball games, and many more activities... They are all meant to show that sport is not just healthy, but also great fun.

Family Travel Festival

From August 4 -7, during the final regatta of the Tall Ships Races 2017, Adam Mickiewicz Square will turn into a real travelling village where the youngest participants will be able to deepen their knowledge of the world through fun and education, and the festival tent will be filled with the stories of travellers, proving that borders are only in the mind. It’s the first such large meeting with people who have made travel their lives. Among the invited guests are travelling families, groups of friends, children, and lone wanderers from the furthest corners of the globe.


Finding the chillout zone should not be a problem: just head for the inconspicuous black container near Long Bridge on Gdynia Boulevard. The container will utilise the surrounding area to offer a relaxation, entertainment and sports zone. Equipped with a sound system for playing music and a lighting system, it will encourage passers-by to stay active. It will also serve as a stage for expert discussions about Szczecin, an all-day DJ stage, a workshop zone and a night-time chillout zone. Play boules, badminton or frisbee, have a rest on a deckchair, bathe in the sun and dance while listening to music mixed by DJs.


The 10th edition of the PYROMAGIC International Fireworks Festival is drawing near. The sky over Szczecin will light up again! The anniversary edition of the event will be one to remember, with winners of the last four editions competing in the Champions Finals. The festival will take place on Chrobry Embankment just after the Tall Ships Races finale.
