The history of the Szczecin finals dates back to 2007, but Szczecin has a much longer tradition of participating in the races. Our representation first competed with the tall ships in 2005. Two years later, after extensive preparations, Szczecin invited the sailing ships and their crews to join the final leg of the race series along the Aarhus - Kotka - Stockholm - Szczecin route. 90 vessels moored at the Chrobry Embankment and Łasztownia. In 2013, the sailing ships returned to Szczecin, repeating the success of the previous race final. Following the races and the friendly stage along the Aarhus - Helsinki - Riga - Szczecin route, the city once again became the eagerly awaited final port by young sailors. Over 100 ships docked at Wały Chrobrego and Łasztownia. The 2017 edition was another grand celebration, hosting approximately 7,000 sailors from 18 countries including Oman, Brazil, Germany, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Portugal, and the United Kingdom. After the gruelling race on the Halmstad - Kotka - Turku - Klaipeda route, 91 tall ships sailed to Szczecin. The fourth final was to take place in 2021. However, pandemic restrictions led to the cancellation of the regatta, and the race route was postponed to 2024. And so, from August 2nd to 5th, Szczecin will be the final port of this year’s race along the Klaipeda - Helsinki - Tallinn - Turku - Mariehamn - Szczecin route.

Sailing ships interested in participating in the races still have the opportunity to register. The entry lists are still open. So far, more than 60 vessels have registered in the Tall Ships Races.

Recruitment for the Szczecin Representation in this year’s tall ships regatta has been extended until April 30th. To become a member of the Szczecin Sailing Representation, you must: be at least 18 years old by June 20, 2024, reside, study, or work in Poland, be a creative person not afraid of challenges, and know at least one foreign language at a communicative level. Those from outside Szczecin can expect a 20% discount. Szczecin will be represented by two sailing ships: Dar Szczecina (The Gift of Szczecin) and Zryw (The Rush). Crew recruitment includes a stage on the route Szczecin - Klaipeda - Helsinki - Tallinn.
