News / Time to say goodbye

05.08.2024

Recaps are never an easy task. Firstly, because they present a time that has already passed, and it’s difficult to bid farewell to our guests from different parts of the world. Without a doubt, we prefer welcoming them. On the other hand, it’s the perfect opportunity to present how significant an undertaking it was to prepare for the regatta finale of The Tall Ships Races and how successful it was.

Stalls, zones, avenues, fairs, and amusement parks were set up on both sides of the Oder, from the square near the Adam Mickiewicz monument to the Wielka Orkiestra Świątecznej Pomocy Square (plac Wielkiej Orkiestry Świątecznej Pomocy). If we were to arrange all of these elements in a straight line, we’d have an almost 6 km long distance with 4 different stages. All of it was filled with attractions for the whole family, from morning until late at night. The attendance proved that both locals and tourists were satisfied with the events, and they still have a huge desire to experience the maritime atmosphere. Melodies from the departing vessels will echo across the water for a long time to come, and the memory of the concerts and other attractions will stay with us forever.

Nevertheless, the things we’ve seen during these last five days are the culmination of multiple years of work by many people. To realize this kind of event in an attractive, comfortable, and safe way for both the exhibitors and the artists, as well as guests on land and the sailors, required a lot of work and detailed planning.

The experience and dedication of the urban services are appreciated in many other ports, and STI once more trusted Szczecin with organizing the biggest sailing event in Europe. Once again, we can say that The Tall Ships Races ended successfully.

We’d like to thank every crew, artist, and animator. Thanks to them, it was an incredible time for our visitors. However, we cannot overlook the technical services and municipal units, without which this event could not take place.

All of the municipal companies of Szczecin did a tremendous amount of work during The Tall Ships Races. Like ninjas, their employees appeared at individual locations unnoticed and solved problems that arose during these last days.
