By the decision of the main organizer and the cities hosting the large sailing ships, the Tall Ships Races 2021 regatta is canceled. Nevertheless, sailing ships will come to Szczecin and we will be able to participate in the sailing festival.
After many long talks and considering all possible scenarios, Sail Training International, the main organizer of the regatta in consultation with all ports, decided to cancel the Tall Ships Races 2021 regatta. The reason is the prolonged covid restrictions. This year's regatta will be back in 2024, which means that in three years we will be the final port for the Tall Ships regatta once again.
The onshore events scheduled for the turn of July and August will change their current formula. Żagle 2021. Żeglarski Szczecin - is a maritime event that will bring residents and tourists closer to the sailing world. Impressive sailing ships mooring on both sides of the Oder (connected by a pontoon bridge) will ensure the maritime climate. The event will also be a huge family event, which will be full of interesting activitie: Food Truck, Craft Beer Zone, Sport and Children, and amusement parks, including the Holiday Park with the largest mill wheel in Poland.
The event will focus mainly on Łasztownia and will take place from 30 July to 1 August. Sales stands will be set up on the terrace of Wały Chrobrego, and activity zones for children will be prepared at Mickiewicz Square. At Łasztownia and Grodzka Island, we will be able to participate in concerts, workshops and sports competitions. Shanty music will resound from the stage located at the Centaur monument. Żagle 2021. Żeglarski Szczecin is a new formula that can become a new event in the summer calendar.
