Information

STS Fryderyk Chopin is a brig . This type of rig was long ago favored by pirates because it helps to achieve significant speed.  The mother port is Szczecin,  Poland.
STS Fryderyk Chopin was designed by famous polish ship constructor Mr Zygmunt Choreń and is yet another step in experimental ship building tendency started with the construction of STS Pogoria in late 70’s. The ship was launched in 1992 and started her career with spectacular performance in transatlantic Columbus regatta finishing as third in her class. Since then Fryderyk Chopin takes part in The Tall Ships Races regularly fighting with the fastest tall ships in the world. The brig was tested in extreme conditions when she circumnavigated South America with the perilous Cape Horn in winter of 1999/2000. STS Fryderyk Chopin is known due to her tradition of maritime education of young people during Class Afloat programs.  During The Culture Tall Ship Regatta 2011 the brig arrived as third and was also awarded for best communication with the race committee. In The Tall Ships Races Regatta 2013 the ship reached fourth position in Class A. Nowadays the ship is mainly used by young people who take a party in The Blue School - educational program for young people on board of the STS Fryderyk Chopin.
