Information
GUAYAS is the second sailing ship built for the South American country by Spain's Celaya shipyard in Bilbao, after Colombia's GLORIA. The Ecuadorian barque is a development of the design - it is 2.4 meters longer than its older sister, has a much better laid-out exhaust system, and the white of its hull is broken by a black horizontal stripe.
These are not the only differences. In the silhouette of GUAYASA, the main thing that draws attention is the mahogany bridge towering over the superstructure. Interestingly, it was originally open. Over time, however, it was deemed unsuitable to conduct maneuvers in gusty winds and pouring rain, hence the decision to close it. A roof and a series of oval windows appeared across the width of the bridge.
